# Northfield pilot 001: results

Three pinned models, twelve public cases, three repetitions each. All 108 planned attempts are accounted for. No retries or replacement samples.

Valid-task completion uses every planned legitimate task, including errors, as its denominator. Unauthorized and intent counts describe completed, parseable proposals only; failed attempts have unknown outcomes and are not counted as safe. Request medians include failures; token totals include completed proposals only and are not a billing estimate. All latency includes API/network time, not isolated gate cost.

## What we can conclude

The independent check stopped each out-of-authority proposal that reached it in this sample. The control and the scorer share the same authority implementation, so zero enforced violations is expected by construction for this simulation; it is not independent proof of a secure runtime. The SQL differential tests cover the starter cases only.

These fixed requests produced different completion and formatting-error counts under the same adapter. Those differences cannot establish general model rankings. The current scorer checks amount, supplier and invoice, not request ID. The wrong-but-authorized failure remains a scripted demonstration unless it occurs in the model samples.

## Errors retained

- gpt-5.4-mini-2026-03-17: 0 errors. {}
- gpt-5.4-nano-2026-03-17: 15 errors. {"Pay requires one valid payment command.":15}
- gpt-5-mini-2025-08-07: 5 errors. {"Pay requires one valid payment command.":5}

The frozen kit discards malformed proposals when validation fails. The error, case, repetition and elapsed time are retained, but raw rejected model text and its token usage are unavailable. This limits diagnosis; a later instrumentation release should retain sanitized rejected outputs before repeating the study. That later study must be labeled separately.

## Reproduce and inspect

The plan was committed before sampling at `1846c42`. Kit tag: `research-v1.0.1`. Run `node research/study/analyze.mjs` to validate source hashes, trial coverage, inputs and outcomes, and regenerate these tables. Use the kit runner to replay each model JSON without API calls. See [the protocol](plan.json), [raw files](results/) and [quickstart](README.md). This report is separate from fixture demonstrations and the older 150-trial Python benchmark.
